Silly Kid!
Yellow Bird was playing quietly with her Hannah Montana closet when I took this picture. Of course she had to be silly so I then got this picture.

Sasha Singing
Sasha sang "Does Anybody Hear Her" by Casting Crowns today in church. The song is the one playing on the blog. Bud also preached today but my camera died before I could get a pic. He did a great job.

A Granny Story
This is my Granny and my Dad. Granny is 86 and not in the best of health. She is in a wheelchair most of the time and tries to get around but it is hard. Well, a couple of weeks ago we were over there and she began having chest pains (that isn't the funny part). We decided to call 911 since she is 86 and has heart disease. While we are waiting for the ambulance, she begins to tell Yellow Bird that this could be it, this could be the day she dies. It reminded me of Fred Sanford with "this could be the big one". Yellow Bird was in tears and Granny just keeps going on and on about how she could die. Granny ended up being fine but had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. I had to have a long talk with Yellow Bird about the fact the Granny won't be around forever. She knows this but loves her Granny so much. They are buddies and spend time playing cards and playing games together. I pray Granny is with us for a long time. We love our Granny.

Look what I did!
This is a flower arrangement that I made. It has all of my favorite colors in it. Deep red, burgundy, plum, gold, green. I love it. It is big though. It is bigger than I had planned and kind of gets in the way of the TV. I may have to move it. We will see.

Breaking Free
I love that I live so close to Houston that I'm able to go to the actual Beth Moore Bible Study in Houston. I'm determine to not only attend the sessions but to keep up with the homework during the week. It is a big commitment but I'm praying that I will be able to keep up with it. I've done the Breaking Free study before but only attended the sessions and did not do much of the homework. Prayerfully, that will change this time.
These are some of the amazing women that I go to church with that will be going with me each week to the study. We had such a wonderful time.

Yum!
You may be wondering why I'm showing you a picture of my dinner. Well, these are pierogies. They are awesome. If you have never had them, they are potato filled dumplings. They are good fried, baked, boiled. With sauce or without. We love them. So, I thought I'd share one of our favorite dishes. You can check them out at this site. They come in several varieties but the most common I have found is potato or potato and cheese. A friend at work says her mom makes them from scratch. I'm sure they are awesome but for the time crunch people in the world such as I, they come frozen.

Introducing our little man -- Motor Boat!
I want to introduce this little guy to you. We'll call him Motor Boat on the blog for now. He is constantly making motor boat noises. It is so cute. We are in the process of adopting him and today was the first time Leopold and the girls met him. I have known him since birth and took care of him as a nurse. Well, this little guy will become a part of our family very soon. We are so thrilled. We have known for a long time that our family just wasn't complete, that there was another child somewhere in the world that belonged in our family. Well, this is the little guy. I love my children so much and even though we always wanted to adopt I wondered if I could love a child I didn't give birth to as much as I love them. Well, I am here to say I can. I love this little guy so much already and I can't wait to get him home. He is such an amazing little man. I will be so proud to be called his Mommy. You can see why we call him Motor Boat.
Motor boat has had a rough start in life. He was born with a condition called giant omphalocele. This defect has been repaired but since he had a long delay in oral feeding, he doesn't like food in his mouth. They call it oral aversion. He is eating some food but I feel that once he gets home and sits with our family eating meals that he will grow to have more of an interest in food. It is rare that anyone eats in front of him because he is in a hospital unit. He spends a lot of time in his bed because he can't very well crawl around on the floor of the hospital. He turned one in November. He is so cute and once he starts eating he can hopefully get rid of the feeding tube. For a baby that has never left the hospital he has an amazing personality. It speaks to the wonderful care he has received during his long ordeal in the hospital. Once again I have to say how proud I am to belong to such an amazing organization and to work with such incredible people. He laughs and is so friendly. He has a ton of clothes and toys. I told Leopold we would have to rent a U-Haul to get all of his stuff home. So, pray that all goes smoothly with the adoption, that he stays well and healthy, and that he will begin eating regular food soon.
Again, you can see why we call him Motor Boat. He does this all the time.
You can see by the girls faces how excited they are about a new baby brother. I think they will be a big help with him.
I think we have a mini-Mozart on our hands. We will have to get him a little piano. He loves it!
Here Leopold is helping him learn to walk. He tries. I think once we get him home he will progress quickly. He doesn't get a lot of floor time right now.

Sasha and Motor Boat hit it off. He is such a loving, little guy.
Another toy that he loved. Got to get one of these too!
We thought we were bringing him his first Longhorn shirt. Need to start raising him the right way early on. :) But, when we got there he was already in a Longhorn shirt. Guess he is already getting a good rearing. Way to go! Hook 'em!

Tico
This is our dog, Tico. The girls love him and Sasha treats him like her child. She is very protective of him. I'm not an animal person but for a dog he is cute and pretty good.

I'm sick
I know I'm looking pretty rough here but I'm sick and thought I would share my misery with you. I felt fine when I went to work last night but by 10 pm I was in so much pain I was crying. I have a kidney infection. Thank goodness I had some AZO in my bag. I was prepared because I've been here more times than I can remember. I went to my doctor first thing this morning and she put me on antibiotics. Pray they work. The last time I had a kidney infection I ended up in the hospital for IV antibiotics. Even though the bacteria was sensitive to the antibiotic I was on I still ended up needing IV drugs. So, I praying this time the oral stuff works and I don't end up hospitalized. When I was pregnant with Yellow Bird I had to have a central line with IV antibiotics because the oral medicine that kills my bugs is banned during pregnancy. My kidney infections are serious stuff and I don't play around with them. I get really sick, really fast. All I know is that right now I hurt and feel terrible. Kidney infections are no fun.

Don't fall asleep in the ISCU
This is one of my co-workers who made the mistake of falling asleep while at work. She doesn't seem to learn life's lessons easily. The night before she fell asleep in a chair and woke up taped to it being pushed onto the elevator with every button pushed. I missed that photo op but not this one. It was so funny. One of the unit clerks finally rescued her. Getting fired is the least of your problems if you fall asleep where I work.

I'm secure in my manhood
You may be wondering why I'm showing you a picture of a dirty onesie. Well, when I got to work last night I unwrapped one of my patients to find the sweet little thing dressed in this outfit. What is wrong with that you may ask? It was a BOY! Now, I'm sure the nurse that dressed this poor child simply forgot what sex baby she was dressing. We do get rather busy and all but this was too funny. Of course I had to take him all over the unit for all to see and get a chuckle. I then dressed him in an appropriately male outfit and fed him. He seemed unfazed by the outfit so I decided he must be very secure in his masculinity to wear lavender with a pink bear and ruffled sleeves. It can be hard to tell with their diaper on what sex they are. I wanted to show you a picture of the baby in the outfit but that would violate patient confidentiality so I can't. Just rest assured that the baby now is dressed like a boy head to toe.

Football anyone
Leopold and the girls played some football this afternoon. Can you tell who is my girly girl? Yellow Bird really throws her arm back and Sasha throws like a girl. That is OK because Leopold says I run like a girl.

Pickle Eyes
I woke up early today and my friend Polly's blog got me to wanting some chili. So I made some. Vegetarian of course. I also sliced up some cucumbers to eat. I walked into the kitchen and Yellow Bird had cucumbers on her eyes. I guess it was her way of getting a spa treatment. Silly kid. Her mouth isn't dirty. She still has some very chapped skin from our trip to the frozen tundra.
